In 2003, GE Healthcare acquired Instrumentarium (including its Datex-Ohmeda division), a provider of anesthesia, respiratory, and monitoring equipment. The Datex Ohmeda brand remained popular in the marketplace and was still branded on select GE equipment for several years after the acquisition.  GE continued to evolved these lines and kept the GE brand while removing the Ohmeda name.

Some predecessors to the line include:

  • GE Carescape advanced patient monitors
  • GE Aisys and Avance anesthesia machines.
  • GE Engstrom Carestation Ventilators
