Austrian Government provides medical equipment to 19 hospitals in Sri Lanka

At the request of Health Minister Nimal Siripala de Silva through President Mahinda Rajapaksa, the Australian Government has agreed to provide medical equipment valued at Rs. 1,120 million to 19 Sri Lankan hospitals.

Under this agreement, the hospital equipment provided will include x-ray machines, ventilators, and other medical diagnostic equipment.

A Cabinet approval has been granted for obtaining this medical equipment, and another agreement in connection with this will be signed at the Finance Ministry. The shipment of medical equipment will be delivered to the hospitals before the end of 2008.
