DRE Releases One of the Most Efficient Surgery Lights Available

Superior to many halogen light sources, the DRE Maxx Luxx 3 produces a rich light output with a low heat, energy efficient bulb.

Louisville, Ky. — March 16, 2010 — DRE, Inc., a premier surgical and medical equipment supplier, now offers the DRE Maxx Luxx 3, a surgery lighting system that provides an extremely cool light output with a bulb that lasts as long as 10,000 hours.DRE Maxx Luxx 3 Surgery Lights

“The DRE Maxx Luxx 3 is one the most efficient OR lights on the market today,” says Justin Jeffries, DRE’s chief operating officer. “It generates a rich color temperature while producing a negligible amount of detectable heat.”

DRE Maxx Luxx 3 operating room lights provide increased efficiency over traditional halogen light sources, producing a lux output of more than 100,000 with a 39 watt H.I.D. bulb, compared to 150 watt halogen bulbs found in traditional surgery lights. It virtually eliminates heat, while increasing color temperature to more than 4,300 degrees Kelvin.

Available in a variety of configurations, the DRE Maxx Luxx 3 is designed for nearly every operating room in surgery centers and hospitals. Available configurations include orbital ceiling mounts with one, two or three light heads, as well as wall units and portable stands.

The DRE Maxx Luxx 3 is also available with a convenient monitor arm with video source switching and PACS compatibility, and a video camera that features 27x optical zoom, auto and manual focus, and a sterilizable handle.

The DRE Maxx Luxx 3 provides:

  • Accurate mechanical dimming, from 50 to 100 percent
  • Extremely cool output for the lowest possible heat
  • Superb color temperature
  • 100,000 lux output at 1 meter
  • Color temperature of 4,300 degrees Kelvin
  • 6.5-inch to 9-inch adjustable patterns
  • More than 10,000-hour life for primary bulbs

In addition to the Maxx Luxx 3, DRE offers the Maxx Luxx II, a surgery lighting system loaded with features for a low price. DRE Maxx Luxx II operating room lights are available with full focus control, four-stage dimming, rich color temperature and an array of mounting options.

DRE also offers the DRE V-Series, a line of surgery and exam lights that provide precise, color-correct light. The series includes the compact, economically-priced DRE Vista exam light, the fully-featured DRE Vortex spotlight, and high performance DRE Vision Excel operating room lights.

In addition to medical lighting, DRE distributes a variety of new and professionally refurbished medical and surgical equipment such as the Colin BP-S510 Patient Monitor, DRE Integra AV-S Anesthesia Machine, and DRE True ECG Series EKG/ECG Systems.

The DRE Maxx Luxx 3 Surgical Lighting System is available now from DRE. Physicians can learn more about DRE’s surgery and exam lighting solutions, as well as other new and professionally refurbished medical products, by browsing this site.

Business First Selects DRE as a Company of the Year

After naming DRE the 17th fastest growing business in Louisville, Business First of Louisville has named DRE a 2008 Company of the Year.

Business of the Year Award DRE, Inc. — a premier international medical and surgical equipment supplier — has been named by Business First of Louisville as a 2008 Company of the Year. The award caps the most successful three-year period in DRE’s history.

“In the last three years, DRE achieved a cumulative revenue growth of 90 percent,” says Tim Jarm, DRE’s chief operating officer. “DRE’s growth is due in part to our competitive mix of low-cost professionally refurbished medical equipment and dependable DRE-brand equipment.”

Jarm expects affordable DRE-brand and professionally refurbished equipment to be popular in 2009, as many ambulatory surgery centers, oral/maxillofacial surgeons and other healthcare facilities will need to maximize limited budgets.

“Our products cost significantly less than equipment from competing companies,” says Jarm. “Healthcare facilities looking to save money in 2009 should take a look at our product mix, which includes the DRE Waveline Plus vital signs monitor and the DRE Integra AV-S anesthesia workstation.”

In recent years, DRE has harnessed its lineup of refurbished equipment — which includes operating room lights, surgical tables and anesthesia machines — to strengthen its market share in the United States and throughout the world, with particular success in the Middle East, Latin America and Southeast Asia. In the United States, many healthcare educators are turning to DRE’s economically-priced equipment to provide their students with hands-on training.

In 2008, DRE expanded its online store, ORSupply.com, to become the largest online marketplace for surgical supplies and medical devices. ORSupply.com added products from Littman, Heine and Miltex, and redesigned its interface to allow customers to search, find and instantly purchase medical accessories with only a few clicks — no purchasing group or supply contract needed.

In addition to success in medical markets, DRE is rapidly expanding its veterinary division by selling products essential to veterinarian hospitals and clinics, universities, and research facilities. DRE Veterinary recently released exclusive lines of wet tables, exam tables, grooming tables and surgery tables. DRE Veterinary has also expanded its selection of supplies and accessories available for online purchase at www.dreveterinary.com.

DRE received its Company of the Year award at Business First of Louisville’s Business of the Year award ceremony on December 12, 2008. At its Fast 50 award ceremony in October 2008, Business First of Louisville named DRE the 17th fastest growing business in Louisville. DRE’s 2008 placement is up eight spots from 2007, when DRE placed 25th on the Fast 50 list.

DRE Helps Surgery Centers in New York Obtain Accreditation

DRE offers assistance to office-based surgery centers by providing affordable refurbished new medical equipment.

On January 14, 2008, a New York State law went into effect that will require office-based surgery (OBS) centers to be fully accredited by a nationally recognized agency determined by the New York State Commissioner of Health. To obtain and maintain accreditation, OBS centers will be required to possess medical and surgical equipment that increase patient safety.

DRE, Inc., a premier distributor of new and refurbished medical equipment, is able to supply OBS centers with equipment needed to obtain and maintain accreditation. According to Ben Gill, a Division Manager at DRE, the company’s refurbished equipment is attractive to OBS centers with fixed budgets.

“New York surgery centers can save a great deal of money when they buy refurbished equipment from DRE,” says Gill. “This could help them obtain and maintain accreditation for less than they would spend on new equipment.”

In addition to refurbished equipment, DRE sells a variety of affordable new equipment that could help OBS centers achieve accreditation. Factory-new products include the DRE Waveline Plus Vitals Signs Monitor, DRE Integra SP II Anesthesia System, and DRE Maxx Luxx II Operating Room Lights.

Once requirements of the law go into effect, affected OBS centers may be required to posses one of each of the following: An autoclave, operating room table or chair, proper surgical lighting, vital signs monitor with CO2, defibrillator or AED, sequential compression device, airway management kit, EKG machine, anesthesia machine, ventilator, standalone SpO2 monitor, crash cart, and blanket warmer.

OBS centers to which the law is applicable must be accredited by an agency approved by the Commissioner of Health by July 14, 2009. OBS centers that may need to become accredited include oral/maxillofacial surgery, plastic surgery, urological surgery, ambulatory surgery, and cosmetic surgery centers. OBS centers interested in purchasing equipment from DRE can view the company’s complete product listings at the company’s website.
