STERIS Corporation, manufacturer of the popular AMSCO surgical tables and lights, including the well-known AMSCO Polaris surgical lights, has donated surgical equipment worth $600,000 to the College of Medicine Chattanooga’s surgical training lab based at the University of Tennessee.
The University’s training lab is fully equipped with state-of-the-art medical equipment, and provides physicians, medical students, and residents with hands-on skills training on the latest techniques and surgical practices.
The equipment donated by STERIS includes operating room tables, examination tables, surgical lights, and surgical scrub sinks.

Project Cure, a non-profit organization in the USA, has shipped surgical equipment and disposable items to Ghana on behalf of the management of Golden Star Resources Limited, Wassa Mine, a mining company operating in the Mpohor Wassa East District.
This shipment is the first part of a pledge by the company to provide medical equipment that will improve the health care deliver of the people of its catchment area. The first shipment of medical equipment includes incubators, a portable X-ray machine, patient transport equipment (such as wheelchairs), exam tables, and other surgical equipment.
Nana Kwame Damoah, the Senior Divisional Chief of Manponse, noted that the delivery of health care in Ghana is currently going through tremendous changes as a result of the introduction of health insurance. He observed that efficient health care delivery demands a team work approach, and it makes the transition easier when stakeholders like Golden Star give support.
