GE Contributes Medical Equipment to China Earthquake Relief

GE, manufacturer of the popular line of Datex-Ohmeda medical equipment, and the GE Foundation have contributed medical equipment and cash donations to assist hospitals and communities in earthquake-impacted areas of China.

Within two days following the earthquake, GE made cash donations of $1.4 million to the Red Cross Society of China. They also donated medical equipment valued at $720,000. Since that time, over 7,000 GE employees in Greather China have contributed an additional $891,000 in cash and matching gifts to the Red Cross Society of China.

Equipment included in these donations included anesthesia machines, x-ray machines, vital signs monitors, and other emergency medical equipment. This week, an additional shipment of medical equipment, valued at $1.4 million, has been dispatched to hospitals and communities in Chengdu, Gansu and Sichuan provinces.

The total value of contributions to China Earthquake Relief from GE now exceeds $4.3 million. DRE carries refurbished medical equipment manufactured by GE Healthcare including the GE, Dinamap, Datex, and Ohmeda brands.
