The health sector of Nigeria has been facing hardships for many years, primarily due to a lack of funding. The equipment in almost all government hospitals are dilapidated or non-existent. Realizing that the Nigerian government cannot tackle the challenges facing healthcare alone, a global partnership between the Coca-Cola African Foundation (TCCAF) and MedShare International, a US-based non-profit organization, has been formed to alleviate some of these problems.
Hospital equipment has been procured under the auspices of the global partnership between TCCAF and MedShare International. The first shipment of equipment, delivered in a 40-foot container, has now been delivered to Massey Street Children’s Hospital Lagos. This medical equipment will help to strengthen the institution’s capacity to provide healthcare to millions of children, pregnant women and nursing mothers.
Under this partnership, the foundation has granted $400,000 over a five-year period to Medshare International in Africa for the necessary medical equipment and supplies.
