Global Health Ministries and DRE, Together Ensure Access to Quality Healthcare for the World’s Most Vulnerable People

The Opportunity

Global Health Ministries (GHM) began its efforts by providing funds for overseas Lutheran Health care projects, gathering and shipping medical supplies and equipment, and recruiting long and short-term health care workers. GHM increased the emphasis on primary healthcare in rural areas and working with locals to make an impact. Global Health Ministries now has grown to include a community of nearly 1,800 volunteers.

Many hospitals and communities, specifically rural areas, lacked basic healthcare supplies and medical equipment. Simple solutions along with simple medical supplies and quality medical equipment at affordable prices were key. GHM also focused on sustainability of products for long term use in remote areas with limited resources.

Our Solution

GHM began to procure a wide range of equipment for operating theaters. In 2010, GHM contacted DRE for new and refurbished medical equipment options that were suitable for use in 220-volt countries.

DRE offered Global Health Ministries a wide range of affordable products within a specific budget. Affordability and sustainability of equipment were main concerns due to the challenging work conditions locals faced. The equipment was specifically selected for a wide use of patient age and size (pediatric through adult). DRE provided equipment for the operating theater, recovery room, birthing wards, and examination rooms. By utilizing DRE’s expertise in equipment selection and ongoing technical support, the goal of providing quality healthcare was achieved.
