The World Medical Mission Program is now accepting skilled biomedical technicians to serve on a short-term basis at hospitals overseas. Responsibilities would include equipment installation, repair and maintenance. Volunteers would also train area hospital staff on equipment maintenance techniques. The Center for Medical Missions, a ministry of the Christian Medical & Dental Associations, is seeking volunteers with medical training to serve in a variety of care settings across the globe. Positions range from primary care providers, to anesthetists, nurses, obstetric gynecologists, pathologists, general surgeons, pediatricians, and more. Locations include Haiti, Togo, Cameroon, Nepal, Cambodia, Pacific Islands, and Liberia. Each year many individuals and teams come to work with LIGHT and to bless the LIGHT team and the Chinese people. Many are medical professionals, medical students, educators, business people, and those from many other fields. Typically about ten teams and 30 individuals visit each year.

Medical visitors can teach medicine to the resident students in the Family Practice program, and they can provide medical care to patients in the clinics, orphanages, countryside, and nursing homes. Our faculty can also benefit from your teaching of recent medical developments.

December Service Program

Welcome the New Year in Serving in Lima, Peru

Transform children's lives - teach, mentor, volunteer and learn in Peru. The rapid migration of families from rural areas into Lima and fringe communities has left many thousands of children homeless or neglected. Since 2004, we've worked in partnership with community leaders to address social problems resulting from poverty and lack of resources.

January Program

This team will consist of 10 to 14 volunteers, most are from US. The mission is to provide orthopaedic care of refugees in Kurdistan (north Iraq). There are 27 UN refugee camps with over a million refugees. Most refugees are Yazidis and some are Syrians. Our team will use a local government hospital in Dohuk to perform orthopaedic surgeries. The work is supported by the Kurdistan government and several international NGO (Operation Mercy, Habibi-International and others). If more information is needed, please call me at (310) 431-6323.

February Service Program

Support Youth in Beja, Portugal

Teach English in Portugal to children, teens, and young adults. Since 2007, our teams have taught teens and adults with varying English abilities in classrooms, offices, and community centers. Working with the municipal government of Beja - a modern town of over 20,000 people - enables you, in just one or two weeks, to help students prepare for new economic opportunities.

March Program

This is an ongoing mission for 15 years. The orthopaedic team goes to Qinyang 2 to 3 times a year to provide orthopaedic care of many indigent patients. Many come from rural areas. The team will run two operating room everyday and we are in need of more anesthetists (MD or CRNA) to join the team. Feel free to call me for further information (310) 431-6323.
