Inside Our Medfusion 3500 Refurbishment Process

Medfusion 3500 Refurbishment

Syringe pumps are widely used across medical facilities and care specialties, and one of the most popular models in use today is the Medfusion 3500. Originally manufactured by Smiths Medical, the Medfusion 3500 has remained ubiquitous in the market for years because it offers safe delivery with a simple user interface. Medfusion 3500’s also hold up to years of use, which make them a good candidate for refurbishment and resale.

As a medical equipment provider with more than 30 years refurbishing experience, DRE Medical (soon to be Avante Medical Surgical) has developed a comprehensive process to professionally refurbish the Medfusion 3500 Syringe Pump, as well as other common syringe pump models.

When you’re choosing to purchase a refurbished Medfusion 3500, it’s important to understand the refurbishment process that returns the unit back to manufacturer specifications. Watch our video and let Matt Cameron, certified biomedical equipment technician and product developer for DRE, take you through the basics of our Medfusion 3500 syringe pump refurbishment process.

Medfusion 3500 Syringe Pump Refurbishment Basics

Top Case Replacement

Most used syringe pumps sustain hairline cracks, chipped edges, and other signs of wear and tear on the top case. When each used Medfusion 3500 arrives at our facility, the first thing replaced is the outer casing. We supply a brand new case, helping to ensure the unit will stand up to heavy use.

Internal Parts Replacement and Inspection

After the new case has been supplied, our technicians then turn to the internal workings of the Medfusion 3500. They replace the drive motor and verify that the drive assembly is in good condition, repairing or replacing the assembly if needed. Our technicians inspect and calibrate the plunger assembly, including the pressure transducer. Before the unit is reassembled, technicians also calibrate the barrel clamp and replace the battery.

Assembly and Testing

Once the unit has been put back together, the refurbished Medfusion 3500 is then tested to verify that it meets original equipment manufacturer specifications.

Our professionally refurbished, warranty-backed Medfusion 3500 Syringe Pumps are designed to provide accurate and safe infusion delivery at your facility for years to come. For more information, please contact a DRE representative today.
